Replacement fridge freezer seal

My old fridge freezer needs new seals but the manufacturer has stopped making them. Looks like a ‘universal’ one is the only option. Somebody must know.  I never got around to using mine - the problem being that I couldn't do it all by myself - the door needed adjusting and it was too heavy and difficult to hold.  I was looking forward to the challenge and the hopeful sense of achievement when completed.

Found a website with staff that helped. Have ordered 2 of thesehttps://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/3286218-universal-fridge-freezer-door-sealBeen told it can be fiddly. Apparently some fridge freezers have the seal embedded in the door. When it perishes, you need to replace the whole door or a get a new one. Will be avoiding those when I finally replace the old one. Hopefully some life left in it yet though.

Fitting a ne seal beyond me but possible Tony d'Sousa could do it.

Yes, they weren’t that much help. UKwhitegoods came back with suggestions and tips. A bit annoying as the Panasonic originals were available a while back but I held off as would have cost over £100 for the seals. If the ones I’ve ordered work then it’s a saving of £60 and no one has the Panasonic ones in stock in any event. It’s an old freezer but cost £750 new and don’t want to buy a new one unless I have to.

Shame.  I bet there's one somewhere.Years ago I went to a shop in Rayners Lane for an oven seal. I can't remember the name but worth looking up and trying there.

Fingers crossed the universal ones fit. One option is to turn the seals upside down, can’t see how that works but such is the wisdom of YouTube!

Turns out our old perfectly good fridge had seal embedded in door and when it perished meant replacing the whole door which needless to say was almost obsolete and very expensive. New fridge at great expense but no doubt more efficient.

How do you check if your frig needs a new seal?  Think there was something involving sliding paper about??

Sometimes fridge doors need adjustment.  The weight of stuff in the door - probably caused now that we tend to buy larger bottles of stuff to go in the door... and the hinge then drops a little...
