Go Channel 4!

Just found out the series in India will be live and free ont' telly.Marvellous ,alas probably temporary, return to live test cricket for the masses.

Very very Good news for many people. Not a great test cricket follower myself but a sports fan notherless, but i see how this is going to help many people in many ways during lockdown. Sorry to say this but the BBC should start looking at why CH4 is paving the way for TV viewing during lockdown as a guide to its future. Seems CH4 has grown its audiance by nearly 20% since lockdown first started and that figure points to 16-34 yr olds for that growth. And that is why i mention the beeb who dont attract that age group and are loosing around 200k each year of people not renewing TV license. That could be due to either the loss of a life while no uptake from the younger age bracket. That im not sure in the data

Oh dear - TV going on at 4am.........!As Talksport have got the radio rights, and TMS is reduced to the Cricket Social, this is good news, apart from what it does to sleep patterns (I can doze to TMS, not so easy to the TV).

A fascinating 4 match Test series is in prospect, beginning this Friday morning at 4am. No thanks, I'll switch on first over after tea.India has seriously quick pace bowlers, but I believe England has the upper hand in the slow bowling department, and the wickets on the sub-continent traditionaly induce spin. Now that DRS (Umpire Decision Review System) is firmly entrenched in the game at the top level spin bowlers are getting their just deserts.Shoould be a fascinating watch on Channel 4.

Another plug for C4.Grayson's Art Club: Sunday 7pm.You don't have to be arty to enjoy this delightful programme. Unless your heart is made of stone it will leave you uplifted and moved. Who knows may even make you get your crayons out!Worth catching up on last Sunday's and tuning this comming.

Your “delightful” is well put, Adrian..Yet it's also true that C4 is making most of its advertising revenue out of weird adults of all shapes, sizes and age, with a penchant for watching folk stripping off on TV.Winning a date with a stranger on the basis of what they look like naked is about as good an excuse as any for putting a strip-club on the box.  And that wide Joe Soap audience, who sit and eat crisps on the sofa whilst perving or having a laugh, is about as reliable as viewing figures get.Well done C4 for spotting the money-making gap in the market..

Reminds me of that Embarrassing Bodies programme for people who consider themselves to be physically irregular of different is some unusual way,not that I watch it.Surely, if you were that embarrassed, the last thing you would want is for a couple of million people to be gawking at you.

Supposedly C4 paid an awful lot less to cover the India v England series than the rights holders had hoped to get. As with so many sports, the  televising of cricket is now scattered across broadcasters. I have a Sky Sports subscrition almost exclusively for cricket, but it looks like Sky has stopped fighting for rights in the way it did. This is great when C4 or the BBC can step in and provide free-to air coverage, but the loss of Sky's monopoly means potentially now having to also subscribe to BT and who knows, maybe Netflix, Amazon and goodness knows who else in years to come.

So pleased I did not make the decision to buy a months pass for BT Sport.I was a little concerned that TMS will not be in their sheds lofts or elsewhere, as a cricket fan I really find TalkSport irritating.Very interesting to see who will head the Commentating team for Channel 4.I believe it will be a very hard fought test series, especially when you consider that India were fielding their Second or even Third team against Australia.Good luck to Joe Root on his 100th cap quite an achievement - a very talented young man.England have a strong batting line up and pace bowlers, it will be the coming of age for Dom Bess and Mr Leach will need to get the cleaning cloth out for his glasses.

I find the TMS commentary has gone downhill,even to the extent of a commentator gushing so much  over Jofra Archer,who wasn't even bowling at the time,that she missed a wicket.Too many generalities in the comments and the quality of insight has suffered because of the lack of focus from some.
