Are you still waiting for your Covid vaccination?

Talked to my half-brother up in Hertfordshire this morning. He's in his early 70s and hadn't heard anything about an appointment. But when he went to the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/he found he was able to book himself in for a slot next Friday, although it still says on the home page that you have to wait to be notified.So if you think you should have heard by now but haven't, then it might be worth giving it a go.

Invitations to have the jab at your local GP surgery has to be preferable than being invited to have the jab at a hospital. Being a vulnerable fogie I phoned my local surgery (not in Chiswick) as I hadn't been called for the jab. They said they had messaged me on my mobile in mid January. I have no record of the call. I have since had an invite to the nearest hospital which will entail use of public transport I have avoided for a year - notwithstanding the contagion to be picked up in a hospital.

You could catch or pick up or contract the virus on the way to or after getting a Covid-19 jab. Therefore, you need to be wary the jab is likely of no efficacy to you - and that possibly you'll succumb to Covid-19 during the interim to-and fro contagious catching journeys when the jab will have needed time to be efficacious against Covid's catching journeys before you decided to take those Covid infested journeys on your way to be Covidly vaccinated. OOOErrr

I had my 1st jab yesterday morning at Chiswick Health  Centre and it was a quick, efficient and pleasant experience  - well done to all at CHC 👏

We had our 1st jabs at completely separate times via our GP notifying us on Thursday - took place at Heart of Hounslow centre last Saturday. Efficient and smooth, in and out within 45 minutes. Got letters asking us to book online the day after GP's notification, so seeems to be a bit of a problem with joined up thinking, and postage is so expensive now.

Bobbie. Try the NHS covid responder service on 0808 1963646. It is run by Royal voluntary service. They can probably sort a lift in a volunteers car for you. You may need to do via your GP, but call in first instance. https://nhsvolunteerresponders.org.uk/contact-us

Thanks Rob - Have badgered my surgery with an email, and they have replied with assurance of putting me on another ongoing list to be inoculated at a local centre nearer my home when the next batch of jabbings takes place. It'll be a mile or so walk to centre and then a return stroll which will be just fine.

The Times reports that the government will start inviting the next cohort to book appointments from next week.And good news about the Russian vaccine, which is proving very efficacious. Now, if they could just stop poisoning people ...

I am currently shielding but have not yet been given a vaccination date. Why are they inviting 65+ when tier 4 isn’t yet finished. I just keep being told to wait. How long? I am going stir crazy.

In the advice on todays LBH COVID-19 update.  "If you are aged 70 or over, or you are clinically vulnerable, you can now book your COVID-19 vaccination through the NHS website even if you haven’t yet received a letter. Appointments are available in Ealing and Wembley. You must book your appointment before you go to a vaccination centre."

With latest Lancet and Sputnik news looks like we need to make sure we get vaccinated first with AstraZeneka and then second with Sputnik V. A bit like being injected with the stuff of two stars :-)

Just heard the Astra Zeneca is not being given to over 65's by France, Belgium, and  others due to lack of data for over 65's. However the sputnick has an efficey of 91%.

The major proponent of the idea that the Astra-Zeneca vaccine is virtually useless for over65s seems to be that renowned international expert in epidemiology, Emmanuel Macron. I suspect his motivation is political rather than medical, and may have something to do with France's inefficiency in ordering and approving vaccines, so that their vaccination programme is weeks behind that of the UK. What better response than rubbishing the vaccine that the UK is using? Oh, and he has an election looming on the horizon.

Grove Park Surgery called up 10-ish and asked me to go to Chiswick Health Centre for 1pm. I queried whether I was old enough, and they told me that progress was so good they'd come to nme earlier than expected. No complaints, even if my arm is a little sore.

Surprised at Gove Park Surgery contacting those in early 60s. I contacted them yesterday and was told to wait, I am in my mid sixties and classed as clinically extremely vulnerable. I have been told I will be vaccinated with the over 70s but clearly not. I am truly fed up due to shielding. They need to get their act together.
