Apologies :this link is from an evangelical site despiteJohn Humphreys being the referee.The last ten minutes are worth watching.Lewis wins on a TKO despite the audience wanting to lynch him for being an unbeliever=immoral ,child rapist,molester etc.If you really listen to these evangelists, and he's a moderate,they are totally nuts...and armed...and thankfully far,far away.Hallelujah !

Nice reminder Ben – Ta..Yes, Lewis was both a confirmed atheist and a passionate humanist.He actually came to Chiswick to debate similar to this -  about a decade ago.  We had a few drinks after - but I cannot remember where it took place.  I do remember a large audience and we were either in a hall or a church – not in Grove Park but somewhere on the way.  I seem to remember walking back down Wellesley Road and crossing the green..Maybe someone on here remembers that debate?

I was there too, accompanied by Clare Mulvany who had become a friend as a direct result of our sparring on this very site.  But I have to admit that my memories of the event are also a bit hazy.  I do remember that it was organised by another ex-forumista, Lawrence Truett, who was someone else I came to like.
