Norton motorcycles

For the motorcyclists in W4. So having being rescued by TVS an Indian m/cycle company they are building a plant in Solihull (ok not local).Hopefully up and running this year.Just thought we should have some good news.

Thats interesting I remember watching some programme about them at Donington Hall and its CEO at the time. Think it might have had something to do with Henry Cole but then maybe im just thinking of him when i think Norton and then cafe racers.

What about the Norton m/cycles built between 1972 and now? How do they stand up against the new ULEZ zone?

Yes Henry Cole has ridden almost all the modern British classics plus his own Norton hybrid !As for the Ulez (sounds like a Russian bike ) not much chance of not having to pay if you have an old classic.Never owned a Norton myself....maybe I'll..stop dreaming Paul.

One of my old school mates has a brother who still has the white 850(I think) Norton Commander he bought brand new in about 1972.It is a beauty.I remember him giving me a teeth chattering lift from his home in Poulton-le-Fylde to mine in Preston on the newish motorway.It is the first and last time I have ever ridden pillion on a motorcycle.

That is very true, they leaked as did a lot of British bikes. I remember buying a product called Gunk. You put it onto the engine with a brush and then rinsed it off to get a nice clean engine. Then came Japanese bikes!

I own a 1974 Commando - It is ULEZ exempt.All cars and motorcycles licensed as 'historic' (over 40 years old) are exempt.
