Hounslow Wipes Grove Park Off The Map

I cannot believe it - HOUNSLOW COUNCIL have decided to attack Grove Park yet again - this time chopping us in Hartington Road off into a long narrow strip called Riverside.   But this time Hartington Rd is  joined to Strand on the Green (unlike the Council's Streetscene/LTN divisions which firmly divides us off from them).   Now however in the Council's new diversive plan, Riverside is divided horizontaly with all roads north of the railway line lumped in with the whole of Chiswick, so we no longer have Chiswick House & Gardens or our Grove Park GP Surgery included. As a pretence of taking notice of their residents wishes, we are allowed to comment:-   " add your personal views to the Council survey. It is at https://hounslowcharacteranddesign.commonplace.is  and closes on 5th February 2021."   I've lifted this from The Grove Park Group newsletter.   Do click on the link as it show a map of Hounslow and all of it's new areas.A neighbour here has suggested that the Council employees have too much time on their hands or these diversive decisions are being used to impose new Council Tax levies!   If that's the case, why not come straight out and say so???

What a load of pretentious tosh! Are we now supposed to be South Chiswick or Riverside ? They could at least make their minds up. Is this all just designed  to keep Commonplace occupied? If the consultation closes on Feb 5th when did it open - and how come it took the good offices of a contributor to a local discussion forum to alert residents to it on January 24th?

There has been a Riverside ward for a very long time. Cllrs Michal Dennis, Gabriella Giles and Sam Hearn.There is no Grove Park ward.

There's absolutely no correlation between these "local character areas" and the electoral wards. Like 99.9% of W4 locals, if asked by someone outside the area I will say I live in Chiswick, if asked by a local I will say I live in Grove Park, As far as I know " Chiswick Riverside" is a controlled parking  zone and "South Chiswick" is something dreamed up by the council to no apparent purpose.

BruceExactly and spot on, well said ! Suspect it's part of LBH's machiavellian plan to divide Chiswick and leave us without a sense of community. Perhaps a 'Passport to Pimlico' initiative which has been said many times before on this Forum

I got to hear about this from The Grove Park Group.  I urge anyone living in Grove Park to join this non-political residents association.  https://groveparkgroup.com/  It's annual membership is just £10 - scroll down their website to  About Us.  It is well worth joining and getting their newsletters but you can also join in volunteering to assist them.  The Grove Park Group is a great asset especially in these very disturbing times and with Hounslow Council up to strange unwanted schemes.
