BT class action

I wonder if anyone has knowledge of this. It concerns people with a landline only over many years. We were given a reduction in rental some years ago. This seems to be seeking compensation for the time before that. I dont understand class actions, I have good idea but I expect there are contributors here who will know. For younger people it may be of interest to them in order to advise their parents.

Thank you for that Nicholas.  Does this discount have an age qualification?  My late Mother-in-law had BT only for 40 years and died at 98 last year.  We have not yet sold her place and wondering if we can claim a refund. Quite a liability and difficult to maintain when you can’t visit.

I was part of a very large class action against the directors of a major clearing bank.  The enormous costs were underwritten by an insurance company who of course would have taken a large chunk of any settlement.We lost.Uninsured class actions should normally be avoided, imho.Unless your name is Gates

It said most people would be over 65. It's not so clear. So I hoped someone may be able to explain.

As I understood it, it applies only to those with a landline only connection, not to those who get their broadband Internet connection from BT as well as their landline.

I'm not sure what you are asking Nicholas. The case is still going through as I understand it so nothing to be done until the outcome is published.
