Apparently the comedian now lives in Ascot!

I think that the reason for Tom ( Thomas ) is because it is registered as a business address.Lots of actors etc give their business address, registered at Company House as 1A if it’s 1 Florence Road or wherever they live.11A etc and using their full name.

My point being Tom the comedian and tv presenter is Thomas Patrick O'Connor where film writer “Fire on Fire” may not be Thomas but Tom thus you have part of your answer possibly

Yes well why should an American Film Director be living in Chiswick for years? I gather that the comedian is taking it easier now but if he no longer owns the house in Chiswick why is it still registered as his business address? Not curiosity on my part. Just that he’s written quite a few books so is eligible for the Chiswick Writers Timeline. Not that it matters whether he still lives in Chiswick. Just trying to make certain that he is the right Tom O’Conner not the other one!I think it’s likely that a few of us would have seen him around locally to confirm.

Yes he lives in Ascot now but has a website so I’ve asked his Secretary if she can confirm that he has lived in Chiswick so that he can be included on the timeline of Chiswick writers.Somerset Maugham is reported as having lived in Bedford Park with Sir Sydney Cockerell , when he was a medical student and wrote his first novel “Lisa from Lambeth” with Mrs Cockerell strongly advising him to do so.Trying to get that confirmed is another matter!

We know that when Somerset had 4 plays running at the same time in London he was living in a flat near Victoria Station which he was obliged to share with a friend. He said that he knew that his plays would not be well received by critics but he had to find a means of living or be a dead author. So that worked and he was able to move to Mayfair where there is now a blue plaque to him.

I am pleased to say that this morning I had a response from Tom O’Connor’s wife Fran to say “Thank you for remembering Tom but he has never lived in Chiswick. Best regards.”So that ones sorted.
