Abandoned Pets

So sad and entirely predictable.  If anyone you know is thinking of getting a dog, cat or any other animal, please rescue, don't buy from a breeder.  Most of these animals in rescue homes are lovely, happy creatures who will make great family pets but they can become very sad, withdrawn and depressed when they have been abandoned.  And they are the lucky ones - many will have been taken to a vet to be killed or turned loose, drowned etc.  And a good rescue home will match the animal to the individual/family situation https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9109495/Hundreds-pets-abandoned-owners-bought-pandemic-struggle-cope.html

ClaireLooking at animal rescue websites it's absolutely horrifying how many young dogs are being 'discarded' either via an animal rescue centre or much worse by the wayside and left to fend for themselves.I understand that some short term dog owners are trying to recoup the 1,000's they spent on buying these dogs by advertising on sites like Gumtree and not caring whether the purchasers are ethical and responsible with the dogs best interests at heart. These now unwanted dogs could end up on unscrupulous Puppy Farms or worse as 'Bait' dogs for the horrific, illegal  and barbaric Dog Fighting trade. To anyone who has now realised that owning a dog absolutely requires time, effort and money to keep them, PLEASE take them to somewhere responsible like Battersea Dogs Home, the Mayhew or Dogs Trust, but don't just discard them or sell them on Gumtree to get a few quid back !Thank you,

It's scary that some new pet owners who have never had pets before don't realise you have difficult times especially with dogs, they go through chewing stages and even if you give them lots to chew up they will always take a fancy to something else, one of mine chewed the arms on a chair so I just let him keep at it as beyond repair.  Be prepared for all sorts it's not always easy.  Remember they always need large bowl of fresh water, don't know if I told you this before but I said to a chap you don't have any waterout for your dog and he said he drinks out of the toilet......yuk.
