Are the cameras working yet in Hartington Rd?

The inconvenience and considerable extra time it takes for my daughter to fetch food from M&S Kew for me after a long day working in North Kensington is an utter nonsense.  She is no longer allowed to turn at the A316 Roko Club traffic lights and nip 1-2 mns. max to my home just past the H.Road/Cavendish Rd junction.   Last night obeying the rules of this LNT she has to sit in traffic from C.Brige all the way up towards the Hogarth, and turn back down Burlington Lane, over the Chiswick Grove Park Railway Bridge, back down along Hartington Rd towards the A316!   How barmy is that?   It's the last thing she needs just to look after her ancient mum.     She then has to get back to her own home in Brentford via SCT / A4.   Misery on misery.Two things - has that camera been turned on, can she ignore it for the moment?2ndly, she  is in my Bubble, is my carer in effect so can her car be added to the Council's exemption White List for this area?   I've got off road parking so no need for a parking permit.

An earlier thread mentioned someone who had received a warning notice for unauthorised access to Hartington Road. This notice stated that the period of grace would end and fines would be issued from January 4th. As far as I can make out there is no special dispensation available for carers or relatives. It is to be hoped that all such negative impacts will be properly taken into account when the scheme is reviewed at the end of six months. In that time no doubt Hounslow will have received a healthy income stream from fines which it will be reluctant to see come to an end.

For the sake of balance I know a gentleman in Hartington Road who is very happy with the changes.  The 20mph limit is ignored and he has been unhappy for some time with race track his road can become.People complain of a lack of democracy. The sad truth is any scheme will negatively impact someone.  But does it bring about a positive change for the wider society.If you believe that all cars should be able to go everywhere then no scheme will ever be acceptable.  If you believe that some changes should be made to discourage car use and protect residents on rat runs then you have to accept someone will be upset.Finally ... Helen's casual insult "Stazi" aimed at public workers is both ignorant and offensive.

It is not aimed at any one person or group of workers but rather at a stealthy non-democratic council which has installed a solely for profit camera operated system throughout Chiswick under the pathetic auspices of easing traffic whilst wholly inconveniencing the local residents and not giving a damn about it.

Thanks Jim - I realise some people may like this scheme I honestly think this has been brought in with no democratic choice and I think David is unkind- hopefully he does not live there - I feel sorry for most people who do and find this  most intrusive to people’s freedom -

I should have said that I am one of the residents who benefit from the traffic restrictions on Hartington Rd. However I think the system should be flexible enough to allow "guest passes" for those who depend on regular vists from carers, many of whom are on increasingly tight schedules which are seriously compromised when they can't use the most efficient routes between clients. If all this is for our benefit we should certainly have a say in the manner of its implementation.

One of the Hounslow’s more stupid ideas - diverting local traffic from a wide avenue, and into a winding narrow road running right past a school. It might please the ‘gentleman’ but it’s an accident waiting to happen.

This scheme has never taken into account local needs. Practically all living south of A4 and Chiswick are badly affected - actually for no reason.
