Maggie - I honestly don't know sometimes if you're trying to be deliberately 'awkward'. I've always acknowledged that there are 'bad eggs' involved in the planning profession, just like in every other profession. But that doesn't give anyone the right to invent direct allegations of corruption about a specific issue, no matter what the subject matter, because it's libellous. The thread on TW8 contained a direct allegation ("more backhanders no doubt") against either or both an applicant and the local authority which, when pressed, the author conceded he actually had no evidence to support. I made the point that, regardless of the subject matter, and citing the recent examples of Bercow v McAlpine and Oystons v various fans of Blackpool FC, to make such an allegation put the poster at risk of legal proceedings. Others have confirmed that on the same thread.Your selective quote from one of my posts is probably quite deliberate, and conveniently doesn't include how I also wrote ;"I want the public, when they have genuine evidence of corruption, to feel that they can speak out and that proper investigations will take place, but I also want planners to feel that their employers, regardless of what sector they operate in, will robustly defend their integrity when necessary."Which is surely an entirely reasonable stance ?.
