Fireworks bring great joy and excitement to many thousands of people all over the World - personally, after a very short while, I've seen enough, even the huge great displays of pre-Covid in London, Sydney Harbour, Edinburgh, etc etc. As a kid the soggy efforts in the back gardens with a few bangers, whooshers and sparklers were an event of wonder. No-one took account of the terrified animals - now we're supposed to know better but .... Last night many needed this excitement after the worst year in memory but I do wonder at the selfish mass gatherings of people who choose to ignore the live-saving rules to stop the fast, frightening death by the Covid pandemic virus. There but by the luck of the Gods go I (or someone's much loved grandparent or parent!).
