Can anyone tell me if there is a local exercise class (in normal times) for the Over-70s? And, if so, how to join?

Check out Hounslow for the over 60s .all free. I attended a few groups held in Brentford. Missed them very much. Many facilities in Hounslow but nothing in Chiswick, sadly closed at the moment .

Thanks - but I'm looking for something in Chiswick! Hounslow is the other side of the world. How about in the grounds of Chiswick House, for instance?

In normal times Age Concern Chiswick holds appropriate exercise classes. We are closed at the moment but will re-open when we think it is safe to do so. You can follow our status via our Facebook page and hopefully within a month or two a website. To join as a Member send an email to ageconcernchiswick@outlook.comCurrent sub is £5 per annum.

Robin, most of my classes were in Brentford, hardly a world away, and like Chiswick is Hounslow !
It is shame that several closer venues in the Chiswick/Brentford part of LB Hounslow have closed. Still it's definitely not a world away.

https://blog.parkrun.com/uk/2020/11/12/join-us-for-notparkrun/I noticed that there is a Tree Trail on the Hammersmith website for a walk you can do around Ravenscourt Park. www.hammersmithtoday.co.ukIs there I wonder anything similar for Chiswick House Gardens?
I used to do a Health Walk at Kew Gardens. There were 2 levels. So sad it was stopped. I’ll certainly look into the tree trail Phillipa, thanks

Well, we had the two bridges walk until Hammersmith bridge was closed even to pedestrians (ridiculous).

First of all in lockdown we walked to all the local parks. Eventually we got rather tired of this every day and of having to decide once we got onto the pavement which direction we were going to go in. We then took a photocopy of the relevant page of the A-Z and have inked in all the roads that we have walked down. This has meant that we have walked to all sorts of places we would not have done.We have investigated listed buildings and conservation areas, pointed out to each other clever and neat extensions and also ugly ones. Noticed the different designs of porches etc. We've also enjoyed all different designs of front gardens and plants in them and bewailed the concreted-nothing-at-all-living ones. We've researched strange trees, shrubs and plants and identified them if we can.At this time of year we are missing a Boxing Day Walk including a Treasure Hunt. Sitting on the sofa imagining you are walking around a village and trying to remember the names of the cottages is not quite the same thing but much better than too much TV! We saw family groups before Christmas doing something like this in Kew. Putney also has something organised by their Business Improvement District - they seem to be searching for posters of Elmer the patchwork elephant. We are members of Kew Gardens but don't visit anything like enough for the membership but unfortunately it is now not available to visit in such an ad hoc way it once was.Even if we didn't want to go out and didn't knw where we were going we always seem to find something new or interesting. I just wished we'd taken some more photos.

I used to do the two bridges (Hammersmith and Barnes) pretty much every day although after Covid struck I did get alarmed by the number of joggers puffing their filthy worst into my face. Now doing Dukes Meadows to Chiswick Bridge and back although the jogging menace remains.

It is difficult in this miserable weather to be enthusiastic about going out but we've found that we always find something new and interesting when we make the effort - whether it is a dandelion growing 10 feet up in a tree or the surprising number of plants that are flowering - last noticed were bergenias, white camellias and choisya. The shrub honeysuckle outside my bathroom window smells lovely and is still visited by bumblebees.
