Waste Collection Days Change Hounslow

Thanks very much, Bernard, your warning was just in time!  I've now put my recycling out, having expected it would be normal this week.My normal Wednesday collection is Tuesday this week, then Thursday for 2 weeks.  And the winter missing week of Garden Waste collection is what would have been Wed. 6 January.

There are changes in collections in LBE from next week (I understand it is as normal this week) and for a couple of weekse thereafter so best check the website. Basically collections seem to have been moved to a couple of days later than normal collection dates from next week.

The Council spent a fortune printing labels advising of the Xmas collection date changes. These were attached to all wheelie bins although many had come loose and were scattered on streets. There are always changes in December and January so all responsible people would check the website if unsure.

I have lived in Chiswick for over 40 years and do not remember them ever bringing the day forward previously, and therefore no reason to have checked. Certainly no sticker on our bins last time.

Yes thanks Bernard, saw your post at 11:15 last night and put my recycling out as my collection day had been brought forward to today.  I’ve also lived here for a long time and never known the collection day brought forward before just a day late after Bank Holidays. I received no prior information about this , no card on my wheelie bin last week. Nobody nearby had their recycling out yesterday.

Any changes to recyling/rubbish has always been a day or two late never early. Notice on wheelie bin good idea but not put on my bin. Luckily went out early and as just finishing putting out recycling, around the corner came the lorry. Then I read Bernard's post followed by my wife ringing to put aforementioned out. How many got caught out ?

Very few in my street knew of the change to collect a day earlier. Probable result less recycled. Typical Hounslow cock-up.

I've never known them bring it forward a day either. However, my street has a WhatsApp group and those of us who realised made sure everyone else knew. I reminded them again last night to be on the safe side.Worth setting one up.

Most years I'd have checked in plenty of time because of going away at some time during the holiday.  But this time with shielding and Tier 4 it just didn't figure on the to-do list.WhatsApp is nice and easy to use for novices on smartphones and is often used by a friend of mine for requesting the missing bit of this or that for a recipe that she is makingGreat use of the app.  Also like your suggestion of Olio for any food you may no longer need due to changes to Christmas arrangements

As mentioned in another thread by Anita Blake I think the big Sainsbury's still has some recycling banks which are useful if you are overburdened or have missed the recycling collection.  Not sure how full the banks will be though.Thanks Bernard for the heads up.

Received my copy of Hounslow Matters today which contains  the information about the changed Christmas recycling dates. A bit late as mine was brought forward to yesterday. They should have ensured these were delivered last week but they’ve been too busy ruining the High Road I guess.

The way Hounslow presents this information is very confusing but the differences between Zones A and B make it difficult to simplify. Garden waste collection starts on Jan 11th but that’s for Zone A, if you are in Zone B garden waste starts on Jan 18th so if your collection day is usually Wednesday your first garden waste collection of 2021 is on Jan 20th and that’s when they take your Christmas tree if you have one.
