Third runway gets the go-ahead from Supreme Court.

Don't worry about it. It will never go ahead. Only a fool would invest in a white elephant which won't earn any returns for decades.

It took months to repair a small part of the taxiway at Heathrow.I can't imagine the runway will be built any time soon?

It is in my opinion foolish to underestimate what Heathrow is capable of. The airport is vital to the economic survival of not only this borough but the whole of England. As a consequence Heathrow Ltd has huge political leverage.

It will likely happen but I think it will be a good 10 years before LHR even get capacity back to anything where it once was and beyond so, in reality, it goes on the back burner for quite some time.By the time it comes around to be built everything including aviation will have changed and by the time it is up and running aviation will be in a position we can't even predict. So on that basis, my idea it will happen may not even come to fruition. Who knows When it starts affecting people business and communities that will be the time it is worth talking about. Right now it is not even important in my view

The evidence does not support that Heathrow expansion is necessary.  And they certainly can't do it and meet climate change obligations at the same time.  Heathrow is one of the largest polluters - both noise and air quality.

We are a little insignificant island which the world is no longer interested in. Heathrow worked fine with only one runway over the last months so we certainly don't need three runways.  These Heathrow bosses are just clutching at strawspeople are clutching at straws to try and hold onto their fat cat salaries for a few more months / years. They know that a third runway is no longer required for the next few  decades.

Let's hope the sad story of Ella Kissi Debrah might cause the hearts of some of these people whose sole focus isshare prices and greed to gain a conscience. Heathrow will try and try to get a third runway going until it is finally ruled out. The fight will go on.

And to paraphrase one of our most popular actors 'not a lot of people know that'  - Heathrow claiming it can be 'green' is ludicrous.  They are electrifying the airport to reduce pollution but their air pollution calculations do NOT INCLUDE FLIGHTS.  Flights create vast amounts of pollution, and Heathrow is not counting those, let alone the noise pollution causing sleeplessness from early am starts, effect on schoolchildren not being able to hear their teachers,etc.  Have a look at some of the Facebook sites around it which have a lot more detailed info on all this,  if you would like me to send you links to them, just let me know.

Hmm  Heathrow should also have been at the forefront of not allowing anyone into the country who had or could have Coronavirus by making sure that everyone who got off planes knew absolutely exactly what to do if they became ill.  If other countries' airports could take incoming passengers' temperatures then they could have done the same at Heathrow. Blame it on the Govt?  You'd have thought that a Govt that had failed to prepare properly for a pandemic could at least have organised a heavy information initiative.  People coming in should have to advise of more than their last port of departure particularly when they can choose different circuitous routes.  There are too many stories of people just flying in with no info and no self-isolation.

Trouble is Heathrow and Gatwick too are huge airports - in some cases just one of their Terminals is the size of an entire airport in many oountries.  Smaller airports can control incoming and outgoing passengers easier than our enormous ones.  In an ideal World yes - check and follow up everyone but ..... ! and at short notice, plainly and unfortunately, not feasible.    Is that greedy, space stealing, accident prone, CHiRoad cycleway open yet?
