Is this forum in its death throes?

What the devil is happening, or more to the point NOT happening to this site?   After managing to get the Forum page on my screen - another wait while the individual post I want to read comes up, then unable to scroll down to open it, finally it opens but then can't move any further to read next comment, long delay before I'm able to reply to a post, the screen seems to freeze between each action, slow doesn't begin to explain it.   It's beyond painful!   Is it my system or is this happening to everyone?

Nah, it's just very unpredictable.According to the tiny lettering at the bottom of the page as I write this there are 2294 people currently visiting the site. Really? Who are they? What are they doing? In fact the cycle ranting (guilty as charged) seems to have abated somewhat.....

Bruce.I suspect that's a count of all who have visited the site today (this week?) not just at that moment.

Re the small print (2507 people visiting the site as I type) because it seems so improbable for ChiswickW4 alone, I'd always assumed that was the number of visitors to NeighbourNET which hosts this site along with about ten other lookalikes for other localities (Acton, Putney, Brentford, etc)

Don't worry, it's been like that since I started using it a few years ago and hasn't noticeably got any worse or better. Sometimes clicking back to the home page and then going back to the forum sorts it out (or perhaps it just seems that way by easing my frustration); but sometimes replies in a thread don't appear for minutes at a time.

Well i never log out so im counted as being on the website 24/7 365 days a year. Maybe that is some indication to the numbers,not looking  but just logged on all the time

I don’t know about the technicalities but the tone and contributions could do with a reset.

Agreed. Apart from the resident nutters who seem to get their jollies from bizarre contributions trying to wind people up (and should really leave and find their own little planet), abuse seems to be on the increase. Disagreement is ok, providing those that post respect others viewpoints. Extremism appears to be taking over to the detriment of contributors who genuinely care about what goes on in Chiswick and want to improve the area for all.
