Chinese takeaway

I usually order from Singapore Garden, but I've been a bit disappointed recently, Thought I'd give May's a shot. Is it any good? Thanks, if you can comment.

Funnily enough, we recently switched from Singapore Garden to Mays. In all fairness, I think they are quite comparable - some dishes are marginally better from one, some the other. We are also big fans of North China in Acton.

I was very impressed with May's. The food arrived promptly and was piping hot. And in my opinion, far better quality than Singapore Garden. I shall use them again and thank you for your recommendations.

Singapore Gardens driver once couldn’t find our place and deceived to throw the food away as he told me on the phone! As this was our first incident ever (Deliveroo) I phoned Singapore Garden for help. I was shouted by the lady who always takes the order, in a way that was so aggressive. I think they got quite cocky as they made good £££.  What goes around comes around....

Yes, Singapore Garden have always been a bit bolshy. One almost feels like you're  being a nuisance when placing an order. I won't use them again.And Chris, May's is the Chinese in Devonshire Road. They delivered via Just Eat. A very happy customer.

maybe the staff came from the Wong Kei in Chinatown!  If you have ever been there, you'll know what I mean.

Problem with the Wong Kei is its  rudeness was an actual issue back in the early 80s for some time and by the early 90s rudeness became its USP  for the tourist trade. It was on many peoples bucket list once the likes of the internet and trip advisor came along But is had a makeover and new owners 6yrs ago so may be not the same. I lived down the road in the 80s and have not been back for over 30 yrs

Om nom nom, I had May’s on Friday. The aromatic duck is the best. Lettuce wrapped chicken is a lovely dish too

Ah, the old Wong Kei.  Rudeness as performance art. It was too over the top to be offensive.Always enjoyed May’s when I used to live round the corner.

I too loved the old wong kei, get ordered to a table with lots of strangers,but met lots of interesting people from all over the world. Was never brave enough to ask for a fork 😂😂😂 last time I went,it just wasn't the same, you actually had attentive waiters. Food was still great tho. I've also been told by friends,and seen some great reviews for a new takeaway in Acton called RYU. Haven't tried it myself,but some friends rate it with North China, which they frequent.

North China...fantastic and very authentic...many Chinese frequent the restaurant

I put this restaurant on our bucket list. I just googled it and the reviews are too funny 😂

North china is nice enough if you eat in. But their delivery service has always been a total let down. If the restaurant is busy, then they just don't keep up with takeaway food and it ends up taking an extremely long time. It may not be an issue right now, but it's why i wouldn't use them again. Singapore garden I've always found pretty good and easy to order online. Delivery is quite the opposite of N. China and is very very fast.
