Ben Gemmingen asked" If they're a good entertainer, why not ?"Because they're defrauding genuine musicians who've taken the trouble to actually learn their instruments.Bad money drives out good. Gresham's Law.They're also defrauding the musician who's performancethey're playing. They're pretending to a skill they don't have. Why should anyone learn to play a musical instrument when they can simply stand next to an amplifier and pretend ?Prospects for live musicians in the UK have been been in decline for a number of years now. Watch any classical music on TV and the members of the orchestrabeavering away, largely unsung most of them, nightafter night. And having to do recording gigs again unsung just to make ends meet. All after years of practice and training and possible self-imposedhardship. Imagine yourself one of them walking down the street and seeing some clown stood next to an amplifier making a pathetic attempt at pretending to be able to play as well as you do, maybe even to arecording you were familiar with. And being paideven more than you. Would *you* find that very entertaining ?That's the big difference with the "genuine" "BIG Issue sellers. In a country as rich as the UK I don't believe anyone should be made to dance for their supper."How did they deal with homelesssnes in 2ist centuryBritain ? "Well one idea was getting them standing onthe street selling magazines to show everyone just howgenuine they were.Whereas with musicians busking that is what they wereactually trained to do. Perform, show off their skills. But in the one venue with the lowest agents fees, the street they're being denied that chance by "entertaining "imposters.michael adams...

Keith Iddon explained" That you now show you have the same views about fraudulent buskers is either a sign of your lack of awareness or your hypocrisy"Before you start accusing me, or anyone else for that matter of lack of awareness or hypocrisy Keith, perhaps you shouldpay rather more attention to what I actually wroteAs I've explained to you more than once now Keith, the scammers can only be detrimental to the genuinely needy - your words - because people like you are perfectly happy for the "genuinely needy" to be dependent on charity in the first place. Whereas I'm not. As far as I'm concerned there should be no need for "genuine" Big Issue sellers in the first place. Now while others may wish to disagree, perhaps stronglythat does happen to be my considered opinion on thesubject.  So just how many times do I have to repeat this point Keith, for it to sink in ?    On the other hand my objection to fake buskers is based solely on the fact that they're pretending to play instruments, the sounds of which are actually being produced by amplified backing tracks, thus undermining unamplified performances by genuine musicians, who've put in years of practice, to achieve the same result. If you're still having difficulties with this Keith, andso as to save you the trouble of having to think up any more insults, might I humbly suggest you show this exchange to somebody else who might be better able to explain it to you, perhaps in language you can better understand ? michael adams

… talking of conmen and their performance and without getting all uptight and poopy about conmen – was there ever a conman as wonderful as Max Bialystock..Max finds the perfect play “guaranteed to close on page 4” .. written by the worst playwright that ever lived - Franz Liebkind in German helmet  “Hitler was a better painter than Churchill.  He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon – two coats”... directed by camp cretin Roger de Bris  “This is a decision that could effect my entire life – I shall have to think about it – I'll do it”... starring out-of-his-head Lorenzo DuBois aka LSD  “One and one's two, two and two's four, I feel so bad cos I'm losin' the war”....  His partner (Leo Bloom) then oversubscribes the production thousands and thousands times over 100% to a throng of devoted “liddle-old-lady” angels, all madly in love with Max Bialystock...Then Bingo – this all-time flop of a turkey becomes a massive box-office HIT!Ruin!Prison looms! But before that (with Max innocently looking on in a last-ditch effort to con the judge) Leo Bloom addresses the jury.  Here's some of his great monologue:-“your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Max Bialystock is the most selfish man I ever met in my life...Not only is he liar, and a cheat and a scoundrel, and a crook, who has taken money from little old ladies, he has also talked people into doing things, especially me, that they would never in a thousand years had dreamed of doing. But, your honor, as I understand it the law was created to protect people from being wronged. Your honor, whom has Max Bialystock wronged? I mean, whom has he really hurt? Not me. Not me. I was.... this man.... no one ever called me Leo before. I mean, I know it's not a big legal point, but even in kindergarten they used to call me Bloom. I never sang a song before. I mean with someone else, I never sang a song with someone else before. This man.... this man... this is a wonderful man. He made me what I am today...he did. And what of the dear ladies? What would their lives have been without Max Bialystock? Max Bialystock, who made them feel young, and attractive, and wanted again. That's all I have to say.”Springtime For Hitler..
