Dukes Meadows fly tipping

Due to the recent cases of fly tipping where are the cameras that LBH installed on Riverside Drive ? As there is only one way into the meadows from this end now vehicular acces has been denied by the closing of the bridge surely this is easily rectified or is it the case as with many other cameras in the Borough ( apart from parking and traffic enforcement) when they fall into disrepair there is never any money to fix them .

It does seem that monitored cameras would be a sensible solution.  Easily achieved and considerably less expensive than the cost of constant cleaning up.

Don't know if the LBOH ever fitted cameras on Riverside Drive. If the CCTV system around Alexandra Gardens is still working, it wouldn't be to hard to angle one of the existing cameras to cover the park entrance, or even fit a new camera to the system to do the same.

and whilst this latest incident would appear to be ‘commercial’ waste, there is a lot of domestic waste  being dumped in our residential streets.  To remedy this the boroughs need to look at their rules at the various’  dump’ sites.  The appointment system is just not working and they may think it is reducing the amount of waste they have to deal with they are wrong.  It is simply being spread far and wide.

According to a report in Telegraph today, Hounslow is the 3rd worst Council in the UK for not collecting any financial penality money from flytippers.  Leeds with 32,411 flytipping  incidents managed to get just £1,600, Camden was the next worst with 25,765 incidents and didn't collect a penny.Hounslow with 21,987 incidents collect how much????This goes to show that surely it's cheaper for councils to have adequate and free tips instead of making it expensive and difficult for businesses and residents to dispose of their unwanted rubbish.  Rather than despoiling Dukes Meadows far better it was dumped at a proper authorised tip.Get yer bike out Lead Cllr.

A lot of people use the LBE Stirling Road Reuse & Recycling Centre.  Has anybody discovered whether you can change or cancel a booking on that new website?

I believe their is a camera on riverside drive next to cricket club facing traffic entering Dukes Meadows. However the recent dumping of waste was on Dan Mason drive, which has been cleared. Didn't see any enforcement cameras on this stretch when cycling yesterday. Perhaps it needs one near the rowing club.

With regards to the cameras in Alexandra Gdns they have been broken for years. The camera I was referring to was the one situated on the junction of Alexandra Gdns and Riverside Drive that was installed 2 or 3 years ago in order to monitor this very problem, as there is only one way in and one way out by vehicle there is no need for anymore cameras just for this one to work, but I fear that if a camera anywhere in this Borough does not raise revenue they are very low down on the list of priorities. So in the meantime this activity can carry on with tax payers picking up the bill surely someone in LBH can see this doesn’t make sense on so many levels

Actually Hounslow Highways on a fixed contract deal with the fly tipping. This contract was initiated about 7 years ago well before fly tips had become the problem they are now. So it is HH who are picking up the cost as the contract says that any fly tip reported to them has to be removed within 24 hours. There is another thread where Councillor Lambert explains the difficulties of fining and taking to court (fly tippers just ignore the fines and court orders) and the Council has the cost of legal proceedings
