Has supermarket sweep started at the chiswick supermarkets?

Hopefully not. There are no shortages. All the supermarkets have increased their capacity for home deliveries and then there is Ocado Zoom which does same day delivery - the warehouse is local too.

Well I popped into Sainsburys yesterday at 3.30pm to just grab some wine and rum and the front entrance had allready been closed off. Its back around the side entrance and while i just walked straight in i was completely stunned only 10 mins later on leaving to see a  queueing system in place with guy on door and guess what? The queue was going right down to the corner. As if someone blowed a horn and everyone ran for Sainsburys while i was inside. You know people are going to stock up becasue they fear that eveyone else is going to do the same thus the knock on effect

I went in this morning about 8am and it was absolutely fine. Quiet, just like a normal Monday morning. No queues, no shortages of anything except maybe slightly less loo roll. Hopefully people have learnt from the last lockdown that there will not be shortages of anything unless people stockpile recklessly.

There was a lady in front of me yesterday who had a large trolley literally piled to overflowing with goods. I would estimate her bill to be in the £200-£300 region. Didn't hear how much she paid because I moved to the self-service till and got out in 5 minutes. For anyone writing a thesis on mass psychology, these lockdowns must provide a wealth of invaluable material.

She could have been buying for her relatives, friends, neighbours, who perhaps were unable to get out?

What is Ocado zoom? Our friend wanted back then to sign on as a new costumer and was refused. Oh, I have to pop out to stock up toilette paper!!!!

"All the supermarkets have increased their capacity for home deliveries"Waitrose can't offer a delivery slot at all currently.  They are showing all slots fully booked up to 16 November and are not showing dates beyond that. They had a huge increase in demand when Ocado switched to M&S.Ocado are nearly fully booked too.  A few slot times on 16 November and nothing on other dates.

Many people do a monthly shop £300 is only £10 a day for everything

Katja - Ocado zoom Is different from Ocado. They offer same day delivery on a range of items - not as comprehensive as a supermarket but pretty good. The warehouse is next to the Recycling Centre but don’t let that put you off! I just checked and they have slots this evening from 7.00

People stock up because some remember rationing. It was still here in 1954 remember. Also in the 1970,s we were issued with ration books for petrol. Somebody said to me they feel better if they have around 100 toilet rolls. Remember that that only 10 X 9 packs.
