What's The Point?

Walked through Chiswick High Road at the weekend and could not believe the amount of cyclists using the pavement. All these cycle lanes popping up everywhere and yet barely anyone using them. If we are all expected to welcome and encourage cycling then it should be mandatory for cyclists to be licensed and prohibited from using footpaths when cycle lanes are provided. One guy on his bike with no light riding merrily along the footpath whilst texting on his mobile. He leaves the footpath and crosses the road to end up on the opposite pavement, phone still in hand.

Yesterday I was forced to walk in the cycle lane to avoid a family of four cycling on the pavement.

If Council's want less cars and more pedestrians, they must make sure the pavements are safe for us to use.  At one time it was Green Cross Code to safely cross the road, unfortunately to go for a walk now not only do you have to apply this but you also need eyes in the back of your head!

Bikes on pavement are a  big problem I use a Walking stick was hit by a kid on a bike only for the mum to shout Keep Up No apologies just kept cycling in between people .

On CHR you also have to cross the cycle lane to get to the bus stop which is on the main highway. Moronic design. This must all be affecting these on CHR and TGT.

There are some roads that quite plainly are not wide enough safely to encompass dual pedestrians, bikes, buses, lorries and cars centre line then repeated all going the other way.  C.HR is one of them!

Not to mention insufficient parking!!  Hence the High Street is dying!
