Halloween/Trick or Treat

I run Party Plus by Chiswick park tube. We are starting to be asked for Halloween items and fancy dress - what are peoples thoughts on this with current Covid restrictions etc?Will you be allowing your child to trick or treat?Will schools be able to do their annual Halloween parties?During these trying and difficult times, as a small business we are rather nervous to invest (and promote) in what is as a rule our busiest season. Looking for feedback please.

I feel for you, Carol, I really do, but the last thing I want is somebody knocking at my door, scary (or otherwise) mask on or not. I can't imagine many parents wanting their offspring accepting sweets from unknown people? Perhaps they can form their own Halloween 'bubbles'.Hopefully some will chip in and share their opinions. Good luck all the same.

I live in a village in Suffolk and this subject, raised on the local village fb page, caused quite a furore with some in favour and others furiously against.The general consenus (at the moment) is that people will decorate the fronts of their houses/gardens and families will walk round in their costumes but there will be no knocking at doors and no sweets left out. Some people have suggested putting out small wrapped bags of sweets hanging off trees etc. to stop lots of little fingers getting in a full bucket of them. (This won't work as most children will grab all they can!)Others have said they will walk round the roads with their children but will hide their own treats at home for their children to  find afterwards.There will be no parties at schools etc. I realise we are different to London life but hope this helps with how certain people are thinking.

My kids usually start talking about Halloween the November before so we will be doing something.  I plan on decorating the house and I was going to run a PVC tube from the first floor window down to the street and deliver candy to trick-or-treaters that way.

I always put pictures of Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter in my front window. It stops a lot of dog-barking and foul language.

No trick or treat. I want to be a good example to my youngsters. Would not even open the door on Halloween, sorry.

Difficult call. My daughter’s school (teen) is entering into the spirit of things and having a Halloween dress up day. We will be decorating. Not sure what to do about “trick or treating”. Won’t have a party or open door but may do something along the lines of a “treat tree” to be safe but not a total Covid monster. Provided socially distanced don’t seem the harm and we need distractions.  So we will still need lots of cobwebs and spiders!

Would be a good time to stop trick or treat as no one wants people calling on dark evenings, time to think of other ideas.
