So slow - almost impossible to use this site

Is it just my computer that is being very slow or is it this website?   When I click on to read a post I get the first message but then trying to see any other comments further down the list is getting more and more impossible.  I'm rolling my mouse up and down the page trying to bring up the comment I want to read - if I;m lucky may get it - more often than not - still nothing, view gets stuck on the first post I opened!   Help!

My iPad slows up if mail is being sent to my inbox, check your mail And junk mail to see if mail is trying to load.

It's not their web server - the initial part of pages appears fairly quickly.It's their SQL server that holds the data that makes up this forum. A few indexes should be added to the key tables and performance may improve dramatically.

Base on the symptoms I too am experiencing I would agree that the problem is likely to be the database.Before retirement I used to do SQL Server stuff for a living and although your suggestion of indexes is very likely I would keep an open mind about the cause at this stage.If the website owners would reach out to the user community they may find someone with the requisite skills to diagnose and suggest a solution.

Interestingly, just a few weeks back there was a thread commenting on how quick and easy the forum had become.  And it had.  So why and how did we get from that to this?

Well this morning didn't seem any better despite my wireless router being steady as a rock.  Is the "newer" site any better?  If so how do I get onto that?  Only want to change if it truly is faster and more responsive.  I'm only a simple computer operator - nothing complicated.  Already drive long suffering nephew in far off Kent into madness by my poking wrong things as I ferret about on the internet.  Currently have done something strange to my documents and pictures files - living with it for now.  Getting square eyes not helped by having to peer through magnifying glass until can get out to have eye test for new reading and computer specs after highly successful cataract/narrow angle glaucoma ops.

2211 people now apparently!  This site also stops working when you click onto post a reply - keeps saying you've submitted it and to wait - 5 mins later you might be lucky if you can bothered to wait.

They need some up to date forum software.I suspect they also need some newer hardware to run it on.Newer hardware would actually be more efficient in terms of energy use, so would get their running costs down.
