Philip Schofield Moving to Chiswick

The Mirror is reporting he has bought a £2million semi-detached house in the area. What a lovely man he is and he will make the area an even kinder gentler place. Perhaps he should be put in charge of borough transport policy - only someone like him could reconcile the differences between the two sides of the argument.

Well he will buy any car - which is handy as there's no point having one any more.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

Id rather know who is moving out. Ive a wish list

Julian Pavey ● 2232d

Groan. According to the website of a red-top Mr Schofield and his co-presenter on "This Morning" Holly Willoughby, have been seen in the area riding bikes together.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

How exciting

Julian Pavey ● 2232d

OMG Phillip Schofield riding a bike..There'll be headline RIOTS IN W4 before the day is out..

Stuart Kerr ● 2232d

He'll be needing a bike if he has to get to White City every morning. No point trying to drive any more, and the bus will take just as long.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

"White City every morning. No point trying to drive any more, and the bus will take just as long."Yes the sheer horror of someone choosing to cycle the 2 miles to white city instead of driving and clogging up roads for a short journey. Whatever is this world (Chiswick) coming to...

Matthew Swain ● 2232d

"Whatever is this world (Chiswick) coming to..."We know what's happening to Chiswick ⛔🚫🙅‍♀️

Loraine Pemberton ● 2232d

They’ll be able to meet up with Jeremy Vine.He cycles along Bath Road early most mornings.

Rima Jones ● 2232d

So here we are in total gridlock.  Angry scenes in Fishers Lane and, what with Philip Schofield heading our way, time for the second full lockdown.  LIVE RIOTS in London and queues at the Flower Market become side issues when nobody can see the way ahead for old mattresses and building rubble floating in the waves of Covid-19.Lots single out and blame it all on Phillipa.  Others thank her.  What we need is a social media marketeer to sort it the mess we're in, especially since it's impossible to get a GP appointment with NHS waiting times going through the roof.Try finding a cat in that wreckage...

Stuart Kerr ● 2232d

They can race Richard Osman who favours the 94 bus.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

It's more entertaining than Brex...

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

He used to live a few doors up from us about fifteen or so years ago so he is returning to Chiswick.Nice bloke.

Adrian Irving ● 2232d

For about half of what it's worth.

Al Webber ● 2232d

Has anyone bothered to tell Schofield that Chiswick is in the most rotten Borough of Hounslow rather than in leafy Richmond?  Or perhaps his wife has taken him to the cleaners so a semi in Hounslow is the best he can do!

Steve Taylor ● 2232d

He’ll be picked up by car every morning no need to cycle.

c james ● 2232d

I think Philip Schofield is well accustomed to Chiswick. I saw him eating in what was Cafe Rouge, Strand on the Green some years back. That was a place frequented by a goodly number of celebrities.

Anne England ● 2232d

Er, he'll be in the same traffic jam as everybody else then. Being a TV celebrity doesn't get you there any faster.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

As if things weren't bad enough :(

Basil Finnis ● 2232d

Well he could always bum a lift on the back of Jeremy Vine’s bike and if they jump enough red lights Jeremy will get him to work in no time at all.

Some say the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and again and expecting different results. This seems to apply to motorists in Chiswick.I drive occasionally to Sainsburys from Bedford Park but only when I know there is little traffic on the roads. It takes 3 or 4 minutes each way.If there is likely to be traffic I cycle or walk. The people I see in the daily jam along South Parade must enjoy sitting listening to Radio 5 Live in their air-conditioned box otherwise they would, assuming they are sane, find alternative methods of transport.Yes, I know some are disabled and some are carrying heavy equipment but many are just too set in their ways to consider the alternatives.

Will Watson ● 2232d

Some may argue that sanity prevails within the sanctity of one’s air conditioned metal box, chilling out to music or audio books safe from the chaos, turmoil and angst of the world out there and of course the constant hassle of dodging cyclists and pedestrians and spluttering, sweating, Covid carriers.  Not sure which sanity or insanity is best or worst.

Steve Taylor ● 2232d

And what does Phiilip say about all this?Talk about thread hijacking.

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

Will in that case you must be exceeding the 20 mph speed limit ?Most mornings I drive to Chiswick House  Park Road entrance, going g via Heathfield Terrace, SCR across the A4 and turning left into Chesterfield Road then right onto Park Road but always observing the 20 mph speed limit. The quickest time I've ever done is 5 mins 30 secs...

Loraine Pemberton ● 2232d

Maybe, just maybe these people have just a little bit further to drive than Bedford Park to Sainsburys. There is a world beyond  the last time I checked. However it is surprising to hear you choose to drive such a short distance and don't find an alternative method of transport even if,as you claim,it is occasionally.BTW Mental health is not something to make light of.

Adrian Irving ● 2232d

And I'm still waiting for the relevance to our celebrity neighbour. Aren't there enough threads already devoted to the great traffic debate?Let's keep this one light!

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

Ah Bruce darling...Good to read you wanting to lighten up...Much of your stuff's been rather overweight lately. Like most of the rest.... if you don't mind the observation.....

Stuart Kerr ● 2232d

Fact is that  Scofield is only  ‘celebrity’ to the bored  pensioners who are able to watch him. Most working people or active pensioners don’t give a toss about where he lives. The traffic problems are of concern to everyone.

Steve Taylor ● 2232d

It is amazing. I reckon that no matter what subject starts off a thread here, there's some variant of seven degrees of separation in operation ensuring that within a finite number of posts it will have mutated into something else - usually attracting Paul Campbell in the process. I am eagerly looking forward to Philip's first contribution!

Bruce Hammal ● 2232d

"He’ll be picked up by car every morning no need to cycle."Not necessarily - as mentioned earlier, Richard Osman takes the 94 bus towards White City, as does Adrian Chiles. Other superstars I have seen on said bus include Frank Gardner, William Gaunt and Fenella Fielding (when she was alive).I also saw Kevin McNally running for the 94 but the driver refused to stop for him.Now I've moved to the other side of Chiswick I'll generally get the E3 but have only seen James Bolam and Rula Lenska aboard.I have also seen Susan Jameson (Bolam's wife) at the Town Hall bus stop, but she may have been waiting for the 272.

Mike Firth ● 2232d

Lied to his wife and kids for 20+ years then goes off with a teenager and in the eyes of the media he’s a saint. What a piece of shit.

Bryan Turner ● 2232d

Poor bugger, wonder if he knew about the traffic gridlock before he signed the contract?  And after this thread, he certainly won't be contributing any time soon.  Moving to Chiswick probably not the best decision for most people right now.
