There is no hope

Just read on BBC a man from Bolton returned from holiday did not self isolate, went on a pub crawl with mates the infection rate went from 12 cases to 221 cases in 4/5 days. The cases have been traced back to this chap I hope he gets the maximum fine! outrageous selfish idiot.......

Well just watched bbc news- as far as I am concerned Jayne there was nothing about it- just what awful numbers in Spain etc. and if I am looking at the wrong place it would be useful to know !!! Find the websites difficult unless they are in blue - just a technophobe!!!! Will try this evening with updates I hope.

Due to the lack of any meaningful and effective direction, strategy or action, Boris and his lazy lackeys are instead encouraging us to blame each other.Grass on your neighbours (unless they are nice middle aged middle class and white)Blame the young - they are constantly in raves in the country side or worse they go to pubs like everyone else.Blame thick people - because they don't understand the rules (not even smart people do)In fact, blame anyone who is different from you.This is really worrying. Lack of direction complete rubbish, mask, wash hands and social distance what’s hard about that??? If we all behaved responsibly we have a chance is controlling the virus, business get going again, hospitals back to seeing patients, kids educated etc. I do agree Boris and co have been too soft, we should have bigger fines, shut any venue not being compliant, bring the military in to support the police. They have asked us nicely instead idiots think they know better hence raves, parties, ignore self isolation and the like. Ultimately the government is to blame for not taking control. Pointless having a direction if you don’t ensure the public are on the right path. They are just far, far, far too weak and wet. We need strong leadership not mumbling, fumbling clowns.

Totally agree they should have been firmer not please and thank you. The real blame sits with those elements in society who have ignored the rules. Can’t blame any government regardless of who was in we would have the same result. It’s the element of society that is ignoring the law and rules, plus of course zero enforcement and on that agree government has been weak.

If the government had been more honest with us to start with and if they had had a plan, then they could have co-opted us into cooperation. But, instead, they were forced to lock us down, but wanted this lifted as soon as possible to save them money. Pubs open, back to work, eat out bribery just led to people believing it wasn’t too bad after all. They never had a strategy for elimination. If they had they could have had regular broadcasts telling us how well or badly we were doing and kept people on track. Maybe this chap from Bolton would have only gone to one pub.

I don’t have a big problem with Dominic Cummings (insofar as I’m sure he broke the rules with his trip (or possibly trips) to Durham but I thought an acknowledged/apology (which I know never happened) would have been enough in the circumstances) but would you include him as one of those elements in society?

What a load of nonsense many speak.  The government is trying to balance the pandemic against economic disaster. The main problem is the stupid people who resent their leisure activities being curtailed; why can't they just stay at home or at least 2m away from other people. They are totally selfish and should be seriously fined or imprisoned.

House arrest in the real form. In South Africa you were shot with rubber bullets. To fight the pandemic you have to fight, not pander to so called human rights.  All those ‘nice’ things which are the backbone of our democratic principles have to be shelved until we have defeated the pandemic I’m afraid. The time for ‘being nice’ is over for the time being. When the pandemic is over we can regroup and rebuild the economy. We have done it many times, we can do it again.

Wow this is an angry, nasty and dangerous thread.Angry people, with scant information, hitting out at anyone that they're manipulated into hitting out against.One idiot in Bolton is not responsible for the spike across the whole of Bolton. Sure he should be fined and made an example of but he is not solely responsible for the spike in every area of Bolton and PHE have confirmed as much.It's the end of summer. People have been on holiday (abroad), kids have gone back to school, more offices have opened, restaurants have been packed Monday to Wednesday throughout August, people don't wear masks in the street, in restaurants, pubs etc. People have different concepts of personal space. All things that are the main contributors to massive infection spread. Morons are very low down the list.Calling out the army to tackle an unseen virus sounds very much like the sort of thing Trump has said. May I suggest you watch "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix. It's about manipulation by social media and paints a very gloomy picture of where all this manipulation and hatred will lead.

Richard I said bring in the military to support the police.......So that means we have police patrolling with support to enforce covid law/ rules. Police are much more feared in some European countries than  they are here. By the way I am not a trump supporter just to clear that one up 😂😂😂😂
