Buses

Do we need Marshalls/ Stewards/ or Old Fashion Conductors on Buses to help the drivers, as buses like 237/H91 are carying  more passengers than should be, a sign saying bus full means nothingAlso a School bus shouls only be  for the pupils

I think the bus drivers have got a difficult and thankless task. I was on a 65 to Richmond this morning though and the driver was strictly monitoring passenger numbers and insisted one sat down even when rising a little too early to get off at the next stop. I was kind of waiting to see whether somebody would try to get on without a mask - he for sure wouldn't have allowed it. That didn't happen, however. On the way home the middle-aged man directly in front of me had his mask on his chin (that's when he finally put it on) and was eating crisps. I noticed that the paper he was reading had CLOWN in big letters on the front page so when getting off told him to look at the front page 'cos that was him followed by a few other choice words in his direction.

All drivers need is a recorded announcement saying that all passengers must  wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose throughout their journey on public transport, and that the driver reserves the right to refuse admission to and eject any passengers who don't comply with this.

There is a recorded announcement to that effect, which also asks passengers to use window seats where possible.

Yes, I've heard the announcement, not that I've seen non-compliers take any notice of it. There are also notices abt wearing a mask inside the buses.

I hardly go out, because of copd and lockdown. I had to attend hospital this week and needed to use bus and tube. I can guarantee you that could barely breathe after a few minutes wearing a mask. What would you have me do? Even the consultant,when I arrived,told me not to wear it the minute it's slightly uncomfortable.

I think Donna already has ie. COPD In settings where face coverings are required in England, there are some circumstances where people may not be able to wear a face covering. Basic good manners dictate that you don't questionother people's honesty and integrity unless you have good reason to do so; and even then only if doing so serves some useful purpose. Yes, I'm sure that goes for every crisp eating, shouty mobile phone conversation, non-face-mask-wearing person I've had the pleasure of being on a bus with, not to mention those who wear the mask on their chin or round their neck. Of course there are those who legitimately can't wear a mask but perhaps even they could desist speaking while on the bus (spit droplets).

Yes a notice 'silence please' on buses what an improvement that would be.
