Today's Sunday Times article : about Chiswick's V2 and more

This is a heads up for those who would like to read more about the 2000 mph V2 rocket that fell on Chiswick and later in other parts of London. The article by Robert Harris on page 23 notes the time of the first rocket landing in Staveley Road...6.41pm on Tuesday 8th September 1944. The description of the attack on London is chilling.So..in two days time...at 6.41pm...just spare a thought about what happened.

Robert Harris's forthcoming book "V2" to be published by Hutchinson on September 17th...will mention that the Government had been expecting this moment for more than a year...ever since aerial reconnaissance over Germany's Baltic coast had spotted the rocket on it's launchpad. The noise of the rocket landing at 6.41pm on 8th September 1944 in Chiswick..could be heard in Whitehall. It was the first of many to hit London.
