The day before yesterday we were at the seaside (in the UK) and it was hailing...  but yesterday it wasn't quite as miserable...Time has been really weird this year with all the occasions that have been put on hold - the birthday celebrations that weren't a physical gathering for us all including one which was virtual with a rug on the lawn with teddy bears and four candles on the cake.  We have now walked miles and I mean it - we are now on our way back from Land's End milewise. It is a real effort to get out sometimes for what is sometimes just a walk around the park and back but there is usually something interesting - an interesting building - a plaque on a building for someone we've never heard of or something we never knew - do you know where Pooh Bear was born, a tree we've never seen before and which we'll identify later, a plant, a caterpillar, different ways of designing a garden or car space - the best and the worst.  We photocopied a page from the A-Z and are colouring in the streets we've done. We've then researched further on the internet a little of the social history of garden suburbs. The bulb magazines are now dropping through the door and maybe when it is just too wet it is time to start planning for some bulbs to come through in the spring.  Somebody planted little daffodils around some of the street trees a couple of years ago and I'm hoping to see them again and that the contractors haven't pulled them up.  Each time I've seen them growing a bit more I've given a silent thank you to whoever planted them for this promise of better things to come.
