Waterman's reopens Wednesday and some great news

Cinema opening with Summerland and The Truth, with programming to be announced week by week. Restaurant will be open but I don't know what the arrangements are for that: presumably, one has to book. The great news, for people who've been moaning about the uncomfortable seats for years, is that they've been replaced! Check their Twitter feed for a picture of plush new seats.https://twitter.com/WatermansArts/status/1289844352521400320

Those new seats might tempt me baCK.  Got fed up with W'mans  - had many very happy lunches followed by cinema visits with my friends, inspite of rotten sound, and very uncomfortable seats.  I was furious that Hounslow Council flatly refused to try and develop the whole Waterman's site as a real go to riverside venue and art centre - lovely views across the river to Kew GaRDENS, it's own mini riverside park, could have had a good caFE and restaurant beautiful cinema, space for an intimate theatre.  Also could have developed the adjacent island with it's boat building and artists centre.  WaSN'T THE gLORIANNA qUEEN'S GILDED BARGE BUUILT THERE.  wHAT AM i DOING, with this bloody caps lock....grrr!  lost all interest when it was decided to move it to a concrete block off the 65 bus route and with no parking!

Don't forget that facemasks are now mandatory in cinemas!

The riverside through Brentford has long been a lost opportunity.  Why hasn't more been made of this asset?  Such a lack of imagination.

Haven't forgotten. Usual lack of detail, though. Can we take them off when safely in our seats (we are allocated 3 each)? Time will no doubt tell.

I would doubt it, but as you say the devil is in the detail - not this government's strongest point. The new rule doesn't come into force until August 8th, until then it is just a recommendation, though I don't think the virus consults a calendar. To paraphrase a line from the movies: "do ya feel lucky punk?". No offence intended.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51205344

I can see no problem once you're in the seat with plenty of space round you. It's not like an art gallery where people are constantly moving past you, or like the foyer at the cinema.

Jennifer mentions the Queen's Golden Barge GLORIANNA.My understanding is that it was secretly built in a Warehouse on the Industrial Estate behind PC WORLD on the Great West Road. Then, on completion, transported to the Thames in the middle of the night!Yes it belongs to Brentford not Richmond!

GLORIANNA is such a stunning barge - I remember watching it in the pouring rain sailing past us watching from the river bank.  Also saw it on another occasion but this time in blazing sunshine, forgotten was that event was but a beautiful sight.Referring to removing masks once seated in Waterman's.  Westminster Government officials can't see where each individual person is.  Therefore, it's up to each individual to take the responsibility of keeping themselves safe by ensuring they are distant enough from another person and unable to breathe in infected "droplets".  Also to avoid touching infected surfaces and to keep sanitising and washing hands!  Do all those things, be out and enjoy yourselves.
