West 4 Harriers or Ealing Eagles

Hello folks - I live in Acton and would like to join a running club (when they are back operational). The 2 main ones in the area seem to be W4 Harriers and Ealing Eagles. As I live in W3 they are both about the same distance.Anybody a member of either? Recommended? What would be the differences between the 2 be? I'd be keen to hear from you (PM me if you want to share negative experiences discreetly). Thanks!Bart

I am not a runner but both my daughters are and hence I get to watch a  fair number of local races. Ealing Eagles seem to be very well represented and have a wide range of runners from the 'serious' to the 'enthusiastic'.

Hi BartBoth are great clubs. Ealing is a big club with several hundred members whereas west4 is smaller. I've been a member of west 4 for nearly 10 years and made some great friends at the club. Having previously been a member of a large club when I lived in Wimbledon I much prefer the smaller size of west 4 as it easier to get to know people as you see the same faces at each session.

My son is a member of the Eagles and went on the 'from couch to 5k' programme following surgery. They have been incredibly supportive and he really enjoys his time with them (currently running c.90k per month)

Sorry, obviously that should have been 90km not 90k!

Thanks folks - I think I might be more inclined to chose a smaller club. So perhaps W4 Harriers. Thanks!

Someone I used to know, a member of the Harriers many years ago, said it was a friendly group of drinkers with a running problem.
