If you find any more, I would love to hear it, Robert. I am interested in what happened in Chiswick as a whole, but probably, like most people, in the streets we lived in. I know the first V bomb landed in Staveley Road, but when I see big blocks of (ugly) flats on eg The Avenue, wonder if that was infilling from bomb damage. From the streets just to the North of The Avenue, there seems to have been little damage, apart from the sad case of the man I mentioned above, but before moving to my present address close to Southfield Playing Fields would love to hear about any historic anecdotes about Chiswick generally, and the roads I previously lived in - Duke Road and Whellock Road. I have lived in Chiswick for around 30 years having been introduced to it as a newby to London by a boyfriend who had a flat in Annandale Road. I still thank him for that, despite the nightmare that Chiswick is rapidly becoming.
