Arnold  There is an app for a smartphone which tells you when the bus is approaching...  you can even sit in a cafe (risk permitting) until you can see your bus is nearing you...  but I don't think that you have a smartphone.  You are not alone by far. They can be very useful though and it is becoming more and more difficult to access many things without this technology eg as a friend of ours had to phone the doctors' surgery who then wanted a photo of the mole on her face she was worried about emailed to them. Only because she had been in this predicament before was she really determined and persevered until she got a referral to hospital and a few days later had that mole cut out.Today on Any Questions this change in accessing doctors' surgeries was discussed and it was maintained that the patients' wishes should be considered with regard to face to face and online consultations.  I don't think it is.  If you are not online with the appropriate IT it is difficult. You can email/WhatsApp/message photos of things you can't read or can't understand, you can enlarge print eg on medication, you can show others what you can or can't see on your TV or computer etc so that they can help (beware of scammers).New smartphones can be very expensive but you may be able to buy a second hand one or find a friend who will give you their old one.  You can Pay As You Go rather than have a contract and then if you don't get on with it you have not made such a substantial outlay.  I'm sure that there are people on here that could help with this.On the other hand you may consider that this would make you feel more vulnerable out and about in which case just don't get one.  It is crazy as some people do to walk around showing off flash technology.I think all black cabs take credit and debit cards now.  I believe that you can phone them. The kids were all using Ubers and paying by card before this pandemic. We got a credit card just to use for online transactions.
