Plane Noise Misery in Grove Park

If there was ever a moment to close a runway for repairs this is it.There is far less plane noise in Grove Park now given the infrequent flights - a situation which will continue for some months.I live directly below the flight path and the lack of noise is very noticeable!

I think some will be gald that many airlines are retiring and scrapping the A380 (double decker) to some and the 747 jumbo is coming to a halt pretty quickly. BA has scrapped i believe its 747  simulator which pilots have to do a test every so often which could point to its fleet not taking to the skies again. All are still grounded. Most if few 747s are cargo now but as the dreamliner older versions come out of passenger service they will be purchased for cargo being 2 engines in favour of the undesirable 4 engine planes now heading scarpmetal, parts and even memorabilia Its the 2 engine dreamliner and A350 now being  ordered for commercial terms and fuel efficiency which makes this long haul non stop plane viable today even with Covid making much of the switch in how we fly. And its AIRBUS (2035) or before that the A320 will be carbon neutral which will then most likely scrap the 18,19 and 21 fleet in time This blogger gives a good insight for now and the future. No first class luxury

Really its a good time to carry out the type of extensive concrete repairs.It sounds as though they are taking the opportunity to dig a whole block rather than grinding off the surface and and resurfacing.The Air traffic is light and can be handled by one runway without any fuss.I don't really know why anyone moans, when you moved into the southern part of Chiswick you where going to get aircraft noise at some time.

We moved to Grove Park in 1975 because use both my husband and I traveled abroad extensively in our different jobs - not in the airline business but in export businesses.  So yes we did know there would be plane noise but it has steadily grown and grown - although planes have got quieter the alternate use of the runway for take-offs has been a godsend.  Hopefully once the runway repairs are over in 3 months time, flights will revert back to alternate runway use.  We Grove Parkers possibly deserve a rates reduction for the next 3 months.

I was in a Richmond hill garden on Sunday afternoon and the planes were particularly frequent and noisy as well as apparently lower than normal so maybe that is due to only one runway working.
