I hope it finds a new owner soon, The other TRG-owned pub locally (The Grosvenor in Hanwell which was transformed from a grotty 'boozer' into a really nice pub)seems destined to be residential fairly soon.TRG need to ditch assests to pay the rent on their other chains and get out from under the CVA they entered into just other a month ago which will see over 100 of their sites closing permanently.

The Roebuck group included the Steam Packet on Strand on the Green and I'd be really surprised if that pub isn't snapped up by Fullers given it is beside Fullers head office.

To be fair to Wetherspoons ( and this is generosity writ large), they do not seem to take over pubs but convert obsolete places into pubs.
