Jack Charlton RIP

Although this famous footballer had been suffering for many years..his passing has been a jolt. This death business is becoming serious! At 81 I must dwell on other things.

He enjoyed killing animals for fun.

Lovely call Jim..D'you know, I don't imagine the kind, wonderful and great Jack Charlton would have been anything but sweet, charming and generous to the like of Erica Normal....A true gent..xx RIP

A footballer, head and shoulders (literally) above many. From an age when football was 'the people's game' played by men and the Leeds United team of Charlton, Lorimer, Hunter, Bremner et al was as much feared for its physicality as its footballing finesse. The pampered powder-puffs of today's game would not have stood a chance.RIP Jack and thanks for the memories.

RIP indeed to a real character and a much under rated footballer. He will be up there now forming a back line with the legendary Norman Hunter and Trevor Cherry. He was chosen by Brian Clough in his best England team instead of Bobby Moore(I have the video somewhere).Top centre half, great motivator of players.

Pleased to see the thread got back on track after the churlish second reply to the original post.Highly recommend the Leo McKinstry book 'Jack & Bobby' A great read made even better by the numerous JC anecdotes which even a non football fan would appreciate.A great bloke.
