I’m also surprised at the suddenness and speed, Andy. Whist I had an idea about the plot, I too didn’t expect to see it materialise in my lifetime; I suspected that their plan was to keep slowly expanding the EU to help achieve their aim, and maybe it was, but Britain’s departure, perhaps, scuppered it and led to these more instant measures. As for Hong Kong, I doubt that it’s a coincidence that residents’ rights and freedoms are being taken away at the same time as so many other people’s around the world, including ours; and I doubt that the UK government’s suggestion of accommodating 3m Hong Kong residents over here has anything to do with moral responsibilities or kindness; more like the taking of an opportunity to create further chaos with tried and trusted divide and rule.
