New Traffic Measures

I have been reading about the changes, although it is a little difficult to follow but may be with more studying it will become clearer.   Just a question should someone wish to travel from Chiswick to Barnes which at the moment would be via Sutton Court Road Hartington Road and onto the A3 will that still be possible?  sorry if this is an obvious question.

Does that explain if she can use Sutton Crt Rd and Hartington Rdto reach the A316 or if she has to go C Hi Rd to Chiswick Lane to Hogarth roundabout A316?

No, she will not be able to use SCR and Hartington. CHR and Chiswick Lane or SCR and the A4, as I understand it.

Yes it will still be possible to drive south through the area in the way that you describe Janice. Coming back you will not be able to go that route and you would either need to turn left from the A316 onto Burlington Lane and follow that round to Sutton Court Road or go up to Hogarth Roundabout.

If you live on the south, Grove Park side of Sutton Court Road, and you are coming back from Richmond etc, does that mean you have to go down to the Hogarth Roundabout, up the A4 and then turn left in to Sutton Court Road afte coming back along the A316?  Surely you can still turn down Burlington Lane, drive along past the school and into Sutton Court Road - which will be exactly what people will do who will then access the A4 by turning left rather than coming down Hartington.  Won't that make the traffic even worse on Burlington Lane/Sutton Court Road (South) than it already is in the morning?  And substantially increase the traffic where children cross from Chiswick House Grounds to go in via the Burlington Lane school entrance?

Yes exactly Rebecca. You can turn off at Burlington Lane and keep driving on it to Sutton Court Road. I agree that this is a potential issue for the scheme that will need to be carefully monitored during the consultation phase. I've said on another thread that it would be easily remedied with the school street extending to the section of Burlington Lane that runs along the school and Chiswick House. Residents can have access through a school street but nobody else.I am guessing that the traffic engineers estimate that rat running drivers will not follow Burlington Lane along its length but I am not convinced about that and I agree with you that funneling a lot of traffic next to the school would not be good at all.

Rebecca,- the hope is that the filters at Hartington Rd and Staveley Rd,  it won't be worthwhile for drivers to cut through via Burlington Lane and they will go via the Hogarth roundabout instead.  - there is a school streets scheme proposed for Chiswick School that will prevent through traffic (except for residents within the zone) at school drop-off and pick-up time.  The proposed times and scope of the schools streets haven't been announced yet.The advantage of implementing these under an Experimental Traffic Order is the arrangements can be changed based upon what happens.  With the conventional consultation process, you can't change things without going back to square one and consulting again.
