The streets of Chiswick...

...stink of traffic fumes once again

Is that it Ken?When I last looked the highways were there for both motorised transport and cyclists. Surely you are not expecting a change?

When I last looked the highways were there for both motorised transport and cyclists. Surely you are not expecting a change?Why not expect change? Plenty of cities have changes,  Seoul removed an elevated highway going through the city and revived the whole area and as well a canal system which has become a massive tourist attraction and created employment whilst other cities have created more mobility alternatives. So yes after 10 weeks of improved air quality its only fair to think that things may change.

Plenty of foxes around and the other day I saw a van driver come to a halt as a squirrel was sitting calmly eating in the road.

"imagine you posting an anti-cyclists message"Mmmmm - if cyclists behaved properly in the UK, as they do in Holland, Denmark, Germany etc., anti-cyclist messages would not be necessary. HOWEVER, the cyclists behaviour in Richmond Park was so utterly appalling that the Parks Authority had to ban cycling in the park. It's a shame really. I would, however, welcome the use of velocipedes though, as I doubt the riders would find it necessary to constrict their brains with lycra and it is not likely they would speed and be abusive to other park users. I would also welcome the use of electric bikes and electric scooters on the streets and cycle lanes of London. Sales of these are on the up and up so that is good news to reduce fumes and pollution.

He can already. It is open to all cyclists before 10am and after 16:30pm. Just no sightseeing in cars for now. Those roads at least remain car-free.

why can't we get cyclists of off the pedestrian pavement? I was abused again this morning while walking between Annandale Road and Devonshire Road on the footpath by a woman cycling on the pavement. They are not only intrusive but abusively aggressive.

Particularly unecessary to cycle on the pavement just there as there's the little service road. I tend to look doddery and accidentally stumble in front of cyclists and it usually puts them off their stroke. I might even accidentally reach out to steady myself against their bike as they pass and they might accidentally fall off. 'Dear me! Didn't see you! Terribly sorry! Might be safer not using the pavement!'

Like most other folk living here, I am enjoying the peace and quiet and cleaner air.  However, apparently H'row is much needed so more planes will gradually return.  But if most roads, including Richmond Park are closed to cars, how will we disabled drivers ever manage to live independent lives shopping for ourselves and being able to experience the joys of Richmond Park?  We are a bloody nuisance I suppose - God forbid but we still might be carried off by the Big V thus saving lots of people agro trying to fathom it out!
