I agree. A relationship of any kind is founded on trust; a trust that cannot run only one-way. The questioning, challenging attitude of those who are mandated to rule is not normally required from the ordinary citizen, simply because there is no time to question and investigate all the facts while we make a living. It is therefore the norm to trust our rulers without substantive questions for five years until the next election. Indeed, it may even be justified that the rulers may lie to us, provided that this is for the good of all. However, the trust that we are asked to give resembles more like the trust of a child for its parents than the mutual reliance of adults. Just looking at the incompetence of the last few weeks, not to say few years, can I trust what they are doing is for the good of us all?
