This was, of course, the easiest prediction to make. It was clear right at the start that this government fails to understand core principles of how to make anything work well before embarking on their own solutions.Tried & proven to work should have been: use health professionals, have teams coordinating testing and tracing together, go looking for the virus (testing at airports, train stations, etc.) to catch asymptomatic people, go local to encourage trust so that people do disclose recent contactsOur government hopeless attempt - separate testing and tracing as two separate teams, outsource to largely untrained workers, only test people who are sick, attempt to centralise control, rely on unproven technology. It looks a lot like ideology (go alone, take a different approach, centralise, don't use public bodies, there will be a clever tech solution) is more important that simply doing what is known everywhere else to be a robust approach. That and giving key roles to friends. Now, as we approach a hard Brexit and border controls for all goods coming in and out of the country ... does anyone really think it will all go smoothly and without major supply interruptions? I'm going to buy shares in outsourcing companies as they win multi-billion pound 10 year deals for "vehicular and goods document validation at SE England ports"
