German Student/ Historic Letters

Is there a German speaking student out there who fancies going through c 100+ letters in German written from Dresden between 1945 and 1950 and making a precis? . We deal in old manuscripts and letters and I hope there might be enough in these to make up a "situation report" of post ww2 Dresden so we can sell them . . Many are typed but some are manuscript . Happy to discuss a fee . I can drop the letters off in W4 ish  after an initial discussion so we can comply with SI stuff. They could be interesting but I have no German.

Hi - I speak pretty good German but that number of letters would be beyond me. I can tell you though that German is taught at Kew School (private) near the bridge and I also know the teacher there who may be interested.

I could take a look and see if they look interesting. I've been working on diaries from Dresden in the 30s. Not sure I could face translating them all, but I could have a quick skim for you.

Hi John, I'd be very interested in taking a look at these! I graduated with a degree in German last summer and have experience working as a translator. Plus the subject matter sounds very interesting indeed.

There'll be 'archiving standards' to adhere to in handling such old letters. Oily fingering without wearing of clean cloth gloves, certainly having hands thoroughly washed, can mar and cause old paper to be contaminated with deteriorating and rotting molds, etc. Sending scans would equally suffice - also so that originals are safe with 'owner'.
