Hello Marlene!!Yes, the cat/duckling story is so gorgeous! If animals are brought up together they oftn have a natural understanding of each other.I think this is why we never had any problems with any of our menagerie of animals - our ferrets played with the cats and dogs, our (pet) rats played with the cats, our 2 dogs actually found some escaped pet mice and carried them in their mouths to my daughter who was distraught they had escaped into the garden whilst she was cleaning their cages, one of our cats (sadly now gone) stole some newly hatched chicks from a villager some way from us and brought them back, one at a time in his mouth, and dropped them at our feet - they turned out to be chickens, we kept them!We had a rabbit which adored one of our dogs and would jump over his back and run under his tummy and our chickens used to pluck the hair from all the dogs - they never minded. Now all the children have left home, we only have cats and ducks at the moment, although we do take in animals from time to time. But I have the wild life ponds (although the snakes have eaten all my frogs so no taddies) and masses of bird life nesting in the garden. Sometimes the blue tits become so friendly they will take food (waxworms are their treat!) from us
