British Cycling has suspended all group activities for the time being.  Below is their latest update issued today.Coronavirus UpdateLast week we highlighted the various ways in which cycling is helping in the current crisis. This week, there has been absolutely no let-up in the volume of clubs and individuals contacting us with the various ways that they are using their bikes for good.Whether it’s the fantastic work of Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club, or the inspirational ‘World in a Day’ challenge currently being undertaken by Mark Beaumont and the likes of our very own Paralympic champion Steve Bate, much-needed feel-good stories are becoming more and more prevalent, and we’d again like to extend our thanks to everyone doing something – whether big or small – to make a difference at this time.We know that the biggest smiles of all will be reserved for when this situation draws to a close, and when we can return to the normality that we all long for. This week, the media has carried stories about sporting organisations continuing to plan for a return to action, and a potential easing of restrictions in the coming weeks and months.Like you, we cannot wait for the day when organised cycling activity can resume, however it’s important to state that British Cycling will continue to follow Government advice to the letter, and with the health and wellbeing of all involved our primary concern, will not consider sanctioning activity again until it is deemed safe to do so by Government, local authorities and emergency services.Until then, we will continue to encourage everyone to stick to social distancing rules while out on your bikes, and thank the overwhelming majority of the cycling community who are doing so. Despite the very un-British weather, circumstances are turning us into a nation of indoor cyclists, and we have been delighted to welcome so many members to our regular Zwift rides. A reminder of all the details around those rides is available here.Thank you, as ever, for your cooperation and support, and stay safe.
