Ah, it automatically reduces the size, but in a way that reduces the image quality, so what you see is less sharp than the original. But it's a lot quicker than getting it on to a website first.
Please ignore my comment about image quality. I've just done a proper side-by-side comparison of reduced-size images from this site and from my computer, and I can't see any difference in quality.
