What a joyous walk!

I walked down Wellesley Road and decided to venture down by the river on Strand on the Green. I'm so glad I did! It was so quiet and peaceful. I was concerned that there would be loads of joggers, but I only saw three and very few walkers just walking their dogs. A few cyclists who were told to dismount as there are 'no cycling' signs up everywhere. Lots of swans, Canadian Geese honking away like crazy (is it the mating season?) and a beautiful heron standing still and statuesque in the water. It was a really uplifting experience, which I intend to do again tomorrow.

So glad you enjoyed your walk but, if we find a quiet place, isn’t it a good idea to keep it quiet? Strand recently has been too busy.

Yes, Vivienne, I've just thought that very thought and should have kept quiet. So, I'll amend my post and say that there were loads of joggers spitting everywhere, cyclists disobeying the signs and hurtling along with no regard for pedestrians, and loads of people crowding around and not keeping a safe distance. Avoid!Is that better?

"One form of exercise a day, e.g. run, walk or cycle - alone or with members of your household". I walked on my own to Strand on the Green. Why should I avoid this area? Where would you suggest I do walk?

Jill,  its a point that has been made to Steve on multiple occasions by more than one person on this forum but which he continues to choose to ignore.  Everyone I encounter on STOG is courteous and waits for each other to pass on those narrow pinch points ensuring that distancing is adhered to.As long as people act responsibly and in line with guidelines there is no reason why we should not enjoy that walk.

Can you imagine being stuck indoors with Steve Taylor for the duration, with him barricading the doors and windows to make sure you don't go out ? The stuff of nightmares !;-)

Jill, glad you enjoyed your walk. My usual one is round the lake at Chiswick House Grounds, and I can assure you that it is peak honking and mating time for Canada Geese. Also a familiar sight that you mentioned is the heron, a bird for which the term 'enigmatic' might have been coined. It's a bird for which 'social distancing' is no problem - if there are three heron within a hundred yards of each other they're ganging up. Enjoy your government-sanctioned daily exercise.

Herons aren’t always solitary birds. A while ago in St James’s Park I saw one amongst the pigeons vying for bits of bread. (Birds shouldn’t be fed bread, btw, as it fills their stomachs with insufficient nutrients.)
