Eddy Large - entertaining, and not the funniest comedian in the world, but how ironic that after suffering heart failure, he was admitted to hospital, where he subsequently contracted and died from coronavirus.

Are you sure that he died from the virus and not the heart failure?
Susan Kelly ● 2407d
Could have been a combination of both but they mention the Virus as the cause I believe.

He died 'with coronavirus'. He'd been suffering from heart failure apparently, so cause of death?
Brian Coyle ● 2407d
Cardiovascular accounts for more deaths than anything, with 4,363,000 so far worldwide this year, versus 51,000 from Corona (apparently), so I know where I’d put my money.

I think it's important to be accurate about who dies *of* it and who dies *with* it, otherwise the statistics tell us nothing of use.
Michael, you can't catch heart disease from someone else.

Susan is spot on. There does seem to have been a blurring of this important distinction on news and press releases and this is bound to lead to a suspicion about the figures which, in turn, could lead to people under-estimating the danger.

Article says he died with not of coronavirus. He had been in hospital at the time with heart failure. It depends how this is recorded. In Germany this would be recorded as death from heart failure. Here we may be recording differently this distorting the figures.

Or lead to people over-estimating the danger, Alastair. I have elderly friends who are cowering terrified in their homes because the media has convinced them that they're certain to die if they catch it.
Yesterday evening the BBC stated that Eddy Large caught Covid-19 while in Hospital.Regardless of what he died of, we have sadly lost a very funny and decent human being. Let him rest in peace.

There is much written on the subject of accuracy of death certification e.g. from the government paper Reforming of Death Certification: "it is common for a doctor to propose the cause of death as simply 'pneumonia’ without appreciating that the underlying cause of this was the immobility caused by a stroke."Even before the coronavirus I read that 20% of death certificates in this country are thought to contain significant or moderately significant errors and inaccuracies.
