Could this be the answer to hoarding????

Not my idea, just seen it posted on FB.  Let the supermarkets charge the normal price for the correct number of items you are allowed to have, 2 or 3 of the same....but anything over that charge 10 times, 20 times etc.  the normal price.

Absolutely NOT. This is simply allowing the wealthy to buy up everything whilst the rest will be forced to starve. The supermarkets MUST be forced to ration.

One we were in yesterday was policing at the checkouts, more than the 2 items of anyone thing allowed and it was taken off, and quite right too.

Let's hope the stores act then....taken this from another posting on this site...."Another Sainsbury, man has nine packs of toilet roll told at till could only have two he handed back five saying in having the rest he was refused he then preceded to get rude and nasty to which the manager intervened and he was allowed to purchase the,remaining rolls so maybe that's the answer kick up a,stink in Sainsbury and you may purchase whatever you like and however many, hmm food for thought."

One person of over 80 but fit (at the moment) is shopping for herself and 3 other at high risk people!  Not sure how long this can be kept up.  Of course she has to use a big trolley though and explain at the till.

I was speaking to a checkout person yesterday.Greedy couples are filling up two trolleys and checking-out separately to avoid the rationing. Some are even taking the goods to their car and then coming back into the store to buy more rationed goods and checking-out at different tills. This is quite appalling behaviour and has to be stopped.

The car park needs to close to all but the disabled. If people can only buy what they can carry the shelves will be full.

I agree with Steve.  Other Sainsbury's seem to manage better.  Other supermarkets appear to manage better.  That car park is definitely a problem.The supermarkets have provided bigger and bigger receptacles including delivery vans and parking to enable us to easily buy more and more.  Now it needs to be reassessed fast.I can't believe that there won't be a lot of waste.  There always is at Christmas and the buying now is worse.I thought Chiswick was a pleasanter place than this.

Govt has now issued a message on shopping responsibly.  I don't think that's the answer.  It needs to be stronger and it should include no profiteering.

In general, Chiswick inhabitants are wealthy who are fond of supporting parties that are in favour of helping the vulnerable but when push comes to shove, they are first in the queue for everything going. Not true of everyone, but what I have seen doesn't surprise me at all.

There are lots of people (including me) who are not registered disabled but still have problems.  Because of my back problem I can't lift anything that weighs more than a couple of pounds.

People hoarding should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, the UK is not a third world country, the government has stated numerous times there is plenty for all if we behave as considerate, decent folk. Just shocking behaviour our household doesn’t get it!

There's a retailer in Denmark who adopted this method i.e. the first bottle of sanitiser is normal price (say £3), but any additional bottles are £30(?) each.It works to cut down bulk buying, apparently.And I'd suggest that if anyone is mad enough to pay up for extra, then the additional £27 could be donated to the nearest food bank.

Too many selfish and irresponsible people who couldn’t care less about vulnerable people. You don’t shop on the High Road Claire but if you did luckily there are plenty of people volunteering to help people like you. Closing down the car park is by far the most sensible remedy to the current problem.

Increasing the number of delivery slots for online shopping would help. Most online shopping sites have no slots at all.

Yes and hopefully that will be one of the outcomes of the government relaxing competition rules temporarily so that supermarket bosses can confer on nationwide logistics.
