Bit of  Tech knowledge and help please

I belong to an over 60s group that meets on a Thursday morning. We were told it had to stop. I wondered how we go about setting up one of the online groups so we can keep in touch . We can show each other our crafts and exchange survival tips. Could someone tell me how to set it up . Thanks

Sounds like either WhatsApp or Facebook would fit the bill. But I guess that you have considered these? Both are quite intuitive to set up and use.

I don’t know anything about “teams” is it good to use on phones and iPads . Not everyone has a laptop or computer ?

Sorry Maureen, I'd assumed you were looking for an IT solution.Teams is an integrated package that is compatible with various  sources.It may not be what you want but it may be worth a Google to see.

Our group had it's first Whatsapp meeting last night.  It worked well but will be using Zoom next time. I've not used Zoom: has anyone here? What's it like?

Whatsapp is easy.  Use it for photos and messages.  Heard of Zoom but haven't used it.

Ive signed up for Zoom - £11.99 per month.  The basic package only gives you 40 mins meeting time.  I am going to try and work it out today, but I keep hearing excellent things.  I think it might have some crashing probs this week, as all over the World people are signing up to these on line meeting platforms.

Just go with facebook as its free and your bound to have some that dont have a smart phone or other reasons.Go with your group profile as private, rather than public if your creating a group.

I find WhatsApp terrific for group conversations. Among others, I have chats with my family group, including relatives in Canada and Hong Kong, and friends in my Greek class, particularly useful now that our college has closed down for the foreseeable. WhatsApp's excellent for these sorts of informal, friendly exchanges.

Used zoom earlier this week. Didn't want to work on Safari, but OK with Chrome.

Zoom is about the simplest of the conferencing technologies to use.  Works fine on Firefox too
