Rationing

So Tesco has started rationing some tinned food, dried pasta..  How long before Sainsbury’s follows suit?  Chiswick Branch was packed this morning....

About time if correctPanic buying comes because when you see empty shelves ones starts to think id better buy another pack or two when i do see them and before the shelf is empty and i have none and its empty everytime i visit. When i next see toilet roll im going to buy double what i need becasue everyone else is doing the same. I also noticed the tinned fish part in sainsburys was allso looking low during the week. At the end of the day your going to buy extra,its like a chain otherise you end up with none and searching for the necessities

Panic buying is both selfish and irresponsible and creates more problems going forward. Enough of the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude and think of others.Well done Tesco and I hope the other major retailers follow suit.

Yes, it is very selfish and irresponsible, I agree. But evidently that’s what people are. And not helped when Hancock lied about working closely with supermarkets.

Julian, it says in one of my papers this morning that a lot of people are over-doing it on the toilet rolls because they're stuffing them up their noses, since this an airborne virus and the normal masks are ineffective.

We have always used it to blow our noses because we can then flush it and get rid of it which you can't do so readily with tissues.Reusable wipes are an alterative but who fancies cleaning those afterwards especially since this virus can be transmitted faecally as well.  Still I suspect a lot of people could do with lessons on how to use each time they use the loo.  There is at least one video online on how to use only one piece but I wouldn't recommend it!  Just stop the kids pulling yards off at a time!

Julian,I saw today a lady on the High Road with long twists of pink Andrex drooping out of her nostrils as if they were the tusks of an elephant.Enough to make everyone self-isolate.

Perhaps we should take this opportunity to support our local businesses. The Source ( plastic free) is not short of healthy supplies. Nor is Windfall or Lemon and Limes or As Nature Intended and Natoora.There are also the barrows in CHR for fruit and veg where we can use our own bags.Antibiotics are ineffective with viruses but tea tree oil is anti viral and can be used in many ways.As a mouth wash but don’t swallow. Just spit out.Put a few drops in hot water and inhale. Add a few drops to a spray with water for face and hair or add to bath water.Eating healthy food may mean not so much toilet paper needed.I have been discussing all this with my Doctor neighbour and she agrees. Also with my GP. He is sorry that he can’t prescribe because he is tied into NHS Big Pharma which rejects all natural cures because they can’t be patented and make billions of pounds.These natural cures which have been used safely for many years and don’t cost much anyway so why not give them a try when there’s nothing else available?

Was in Tesco Earl's Court yesterday (the big one). No loo rolls or anything with 'anti-bacterial' on the label. We're doomed I tell ya, doomed.

I was shopping this morning in Sainsburys, No soap, hand-rub, Paracetamol, cleaning product with "antibacterial" on the label, female hygiene products!!. But tons of loopaper

Well I can't - you should have seen some of these morons this morning - I think everyone in our queue - apart from us - had several packs of loo rolls and some had boxes of dried milk - utterly ridiculous and totally selfish. I bet half of this stuff will get thrown out eventually.

OK, I must own up to bulk buying today:-3 x tins of Heinz Organic Tomato Soup 3 x packs of M&S Smoked Salmon (on special offer 3 for £10)However, did see quite a few people with loads of Toilet Paper ???

I saw no trolleys chock full of Supersoft, Triple Quilted, Aloe Vera Permeated, Pine Scented bogroll in Sainsbury this lunchtime, despite there being lots on the shelves.Pet theory, the inter-buttock hygiene fetishists can't get to the shops. They are trapped indoors by the 274 rolls of toilet tissue that they left in the hallway because they couldn't find anywhere else to store it.

It's a good time to check our cupboards.  Don't forget that Best Before means just that and not chuck out eggcept for eggs which can be used by cooking well eg bake a cake or hardboiled - egg mayo sandwich, fish pie with HB eggs anyone?https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/best-before-and-use-by-dates#best-before-dates-are-about-qualityIf you have overbought don't forget the foodbanks.  Now is a time when those just about managing will be finding it difficult especially if in the gig economy with no sick pay for any time taken off.Check that no-one in your family is using yards of loo roll at a time!

Well listening on the radio over the weekend it seems many are not prepared to self isolate becasue they cant afford to do so. Obviously if your in a bad way that would not be the case.For some,feeding a family and paying the rent or morgage and bills is more important than staying at home for 14 days if symptoms are low but one is infected. Anyway,we are not at that level where social activities are effected and the street goes into lockdown,far from it. Its generally quiter all over london but its not stopping people getting on with life.

Got off the Tube at Picc Circus, yesterday, about 1930. Hardly a soul on that circular concourse. Nobody in the walkway to Regent St East exit.Hardly busier on the way home, just after 2200. Seats all the way both directions and nobody sitting next to us.
