Chiswick History Project

Age Concern Chiswick (ACC) and Chiswick School are collaborating on a project centred on older peoples recollections of Chiswick as it used to be.  ACC are inviting those interested to visit their premises at 1pm on Feb 27 and/or March 12 to talk to small groups of teenagers from the school.  Free tea/coffee and cake will be provided.  The stories will be used as a basis for a production performed by the students in the early Summer. ACC's premises are at :-The Friendship ClubOxford Road NorthW4 4DNWe are at the end of a short driveway behind a block of flats called Carfax Court. It would be helpful if anyone intending to come could let the office know by phoning 8742 7007 between 10:30am and 4pm on a Monday or Thursday.

Thanks Philippa. Perhaps not many involved in this forum fall into the older person category but could readers please let relatives or neighbours know about the project.  And new members are always welcome at Age Concern Chiswick.

Jim Lawes doesn't post very often - although having said that he has recently after a long break.Bernard Allen often comes up with interesting historical facts about the local area too.

Thank you for your suggestions.Being a pre-war Chiswickian  I would be delighted to participate in the Project and have applied via Jennifer a volunteer at the Age Concern Centre. In the early days of these wonderful Forums we had many threads on Local History matters. It was a period when this cyberspace experience was so friendly and interesting  that we had many Form Meet-Ups.  These days it' s generally a battleground and nobody probably wants to meet anybody or not many of them. Shame!

The first session was a great success but we are still looking for more people's recollections.  The second is on Thursday 12th March, probably from 1 to 2 pm, but these times may change slightly so please contact us to confirm if you wish to come.  020 8742 7007 (answerphone if we are not there) or email ageconcernchiswick@talktalk.net
